API keys

Which external services need keys and where to configure them.

API keys

Keys are configured in Settings and are used only for your account.

OpenAlex

Literature Search works without a personal key, with a daily limit. Add a free OpenAlex key to raise the provider limit. RxCubed still shows your daily usage and warns at 40 searches; the application limit remains 50 searches per user per day.

AI providers

The AI Assistant can use the configured local model or a user-selected remote model. Chat uses whichever model is selected in the chat window — see AI Assistant for Luna and Sol.

Search scoring and summaries are handled separately from chat, and always use Luna: your own OpenAI key first, then RxCubed's own funded allowance if one is configured. They never use the local model and never fall back to it. If no Luna path is available, nothing is scored — results simply keep the database's own order, and the search page says so.

Remote model availability and pricing are shown in Settings.

neurosnap.ai

Neurosnap.ai (AI & Computational Biology) computational tools require your neurosnap.ai API key and may charge your provider account. Add the key in Settings before submitting a remote job.

rowansci.com

Rowan's Molecular Modelling & Computational Chemistry workflows — pKa, tautomer search, bond dissociation energies, redox potentials and FEP — require your rowansci.com API key and spend your own Rowan credits. Create one at labs.rowansci.com under Account → API keys, then add it in Settings.

Every Rowan form has an Estimate first button that prices a job without running it, and a credit cap that Rowan itself enforces. See rowansci.com tools.

Treat every API key like a password. RxCubed stores configured keys securely and does not display them after saving.
